This is a free Cantonese dictionary for learners: look up words and get Jyutping pronunciation, Mandarin pinyin where it exists, English meanings, and example sentences on many entries. No signup, no backend — pages are static and your history and flashcards stay in your own browser (localStorage).

Coverage

The dictionary holds over 33,000 entries from the open CC-Canto project (Pleco, CC BY-SA), built on CC-CEDICT. Every entry carries Jyutping with tone numbers; most carry several English glosses. Search forgives missing tones — type nei hou and you still land on nei5 hou2 — and traditional and simplified spellings match the same word.

How to get the most out of it

Search by sound when you hear a word: toneless Jyutping works.
Search by character in either script: traditional or simplified.
Search by English when you know the meaning but not the word.
Check word of the day to pick up one new word daily.
Convert Mandarin pinyin numbers to tone marks with the pinyin converter, then look the word up here.

Honest gaps

Audio pronunciation is not here yet, and most CC-Canto rows have no example sentence — entries show one where the data has it. Coverage skews toward everyday vocabulary; very new slang may be missing. Corrections via the contact page get folded into rebuilds. Common learner questions live on the FAQ page, and a head-to-head with other dictionaries is at best Cantonese dictionary.
